Description:
On August 5th, 2021 at 4-5pm EST, the CAYL Catalyst presents Episode #7 – Early Childhood Education Teacher Preparation: Ready or Not? At this virtual event, we will host Camille Catlett, Zeynep Isik-Ercan, and Pam Perrino, who will discuss how higher education can best serve the Early Childhood Education teaching workforce.
As many education leaders discuss the transformation of early childhood education, many questions emerge: What is the role of higher education in efforts to reimagine early childhood education? What is the relationship between teaching effectiveness and degree attainment? How can higher education be more responsive to the needs of practitioners? What are ways culture, race, language, disabilities, individual diversity and equity can be strengthened in higher education ECE courses, field experiences, and programs? How can higher education better accommodate linguistically diverse and immigrant practitioners?
Join us as we discuss these questions and more! Keynote Camille Catlett is the Senior Technical Assistance Specialist at the Frank Porter Graham Child Development Institute at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Panelist Zeynip Isik-Ercan is an Associate Professor of Early Childhood Education and Co-Director of the Early Childhood Leadership Institute at Rowan University’s College of Education. Panelist Pam Perrino is an Early Childhood Advocate and Educational Consultant at Perrino Consulting.
